In the 1990s, for 6 years with SIM, was seconded to Addis Ababa University. As an Associate Professor of Anaesthesiology, Anaesthesiology training was commenced in Ethiopia. The next 20 years as a Staff Specialist in Hunter New England Area Health included periods as Supervisor of Training, Director of Anaesthetics, John Hunter Hospital, and then at Calvary Mater Newcastle. The Area Health Service provided an opportunity for training in Management, Safety, and Quality. During this period volunteer trips to Indonesia and the Pacific Islands were highlights. A “chance” encounter with an old friend, resulted in 4 years in Cameroon, teaching, and training Nurse Anaesthetists at Mbingo Baptist Hospital, with the help of previously trained staff. In October 2021, returned to Mbingo and took up the role of Dean, Baptist Institute of Health Sciences.
