The Centre for Advanced Medical Training hosts the post-graduate medical education programs of the Institute. Currently, there are two residency programs: General Surgery Residency under the Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) and the Internal Medicine Residency under the Christian Internal Medicine Specialization (CIMS), and one fellowship Program: The Head and Neck Surgical Fellowship, also under PAACS. Post-graduate medical education commenced at Mbingo Baptist Hospital in July 2007 with the establishment of the General Surgery residency under the auspices of the Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS).
General Surgery was established in 2007 under the guidance and oversight of the Pan African Academy of African Surgeons (PAACS) an American organization, and Loma Linda University (California, USA). The program is a five-year intensive surgical training program. The program is accredited by the College of Surgeons of East, Central, and Southern Africa (COSECSA). Residents have come from six different African countries and currently serve in ten countries across Africa. The faculty consists of international and Cameroonian board-certified surgeons. A large number of adjunct faculty come as volunteers to teach in the program. For more information see https://paacs.net/get-involved/become-a-resident.html
The Christian Internal Medicine Specialization program (CIMS) was established in 2008 under the sponsorship of the CBC Health Services. The program is four years in length. The training is offered under the supervision of the University of Yaounde I and Loma Linda University School of Medicine. There are currently 26 graduates of the program working in the CBCHS hospitals. The faculty consists of eight full-time internists.
